Products from Halloren
The Halloren chocolate factory dates back to 1804, when it started life as a small cake shop. Today, over two centuries later, it's the oldest chocolate factory in Germany. Its world famous Halloren kugeln, or bonbons, first appeared in 1952, when the 'people's praline' helped a battered population cope with post-war austerity. Today it's as popular as ever. The chocolates are named for their resemblance to the buttons on the costumes of traditional regional salt workers (the costumes themselves are still worn today for ceremonial purposes by Germany's venerable brotherhood of Halloren, or salt workers).
